Jack's Birthday Bags
IL Foster Closet is proud to be able to offer kids a special way to celebrate their birthday due to the generous fund-raising efforts of Jack Stevens, Troop #57 in Aurora, his family and his community.
Jack's Mission
Jack is a member of the Boy Scouts of America, in Troop 57 in Aurora Illinois. He has been working toward achieving the highest rank within the BSA which is an Eagle Scout. Jack created this fundraiser in honor of his family's connection to fostering and as part of his Eagle Scout Project. An Eagle Scout Project must demonstrate the scout's ability to plan, budget time and money, direct, and give leadership to others. His initial plan was to make 20 blankets and from there his efforts soared far above our expectations.
Jack raised funds in a variety of ways for the materials to make blankets and enlisted the support of his community. He partnered with three churches and advertised by speaking at mass at one church and posting in the bulletin at all three churches. He built physical collection bins with signs that also had a QR code linked to an online wishlist. He distributed flyers to all of the homes in Saddle Creek Subdivision and posted on the HOA Facebook page. He also wrote a donation request letter to his mom's school staff and printed signs for the staff lounge. From this drive, he collected 25 66-quart Sterlite bins full of socks, shoes, pajamas, and toys!
IL Foster closet would like to officially name the birthday bags as "Jack's Birthday Bags" in his honor of his generous spirit, ingenuity and drive. It was a true privilege to be selected by him and we wish him much success in all of his future endeavors.
